Pillar Rocks Road is a beautiful route that takes you to one of the most popular natural landscapes at Kodaikanal, India, popularly known as The Pillar Rocks. This road provides a stunning journey through the greenery, misty hills, and incredible and inspirational views. If you like nature, adventure, or a quiet, peaceful time, this road will give you an unforgettable experience.

The Beauty of Pillar Rocks

The three pillars of these rocks are massive granite boulders which stand upright, connected-to-connected, about 400 feet (12 meters) high. They are renowned for their lovely and magical looks, particularly when the dense fog that often envelops them dissipates to reveal the tower forms set against a backdrop of green valleys. The natural feature and connection with various of the Hill Stations’ Princesses makes these pillar rocks one of the most popular places in Kodaikanal.

Why are these rocks visited?

The unpredictable weather is the principal reason to visit this beautiful location. In one instant, the massive 400-foot pillars disappear under all the white mist clouds, and in the next instant, the wind blows away the rocks and exposes large rock pillars rising high over the deep green valley. Clouds and wind, hiding and seeking, result in beautiful weather, which is emphasized for the photographer.

Attraction reasons for visitors

Guna Caves can be accessed from this road. These are low, deep ravines or cave-like structures formed between the boulders. Today, the interior is closed for safety reasons, but the exterior is the roots of very tall trees, and where the creepy, magical atmosphere makes it is a favorite for people to hike and have fans visit the cave. At the end of the road, there is a viewpoint which gives a bird’s eye view of the Vaigai Dam and the plains on clear days. These are known as the best spots in Palani Hills to capture the beauty of Pillar Rocks.

It leads you to the Twilight Esque forest, wherein hundreds of tall green pine trees form a natural canopy, along with the pillar rocks. Several Indian films have been shot there, and the pine floor is soft, so that visitors can take a stroll and get some peace and mental rest. They are pillar rocks that provide a scenic hiking and trekking trail. The forest trails are through the forest and provide the opportunity to view birds and to explore the large mountain hills. Under the rocks, there is a lovely little garden! It’s a quiet garden to sit and relax after the drive here, particularly in summer when the flowers are in bloom.

Exploring the “Adventure Highlights”

This site is well-equipped for casual tourists with viewing safe and gated, offering even children and the elderly to enjoy the view without hiking. The pillar rock is beautifully maintained by the visitors, and it is a public garden where the visitors can take rest when they need it, and refresh their minds. The road has its own merits for the vendors who sell locally prepared chocolate, bahjis, fried snacks of all sorts, and spiced tea, which go well with the cold and hill weather for the tourists.

The tall pines offer the visitors the perfect place to have their pictures taken and get a snapshot of the foggy hills and the road. The shot is a sequence of really Instagrammable places. It is the most photographed location in South India owing to the lighting, clouds, green plants, and rocks.
