They are easy to make my 10 yr old granddaughter just made some. I have been gluten free for years, and these are the best GF donuts I have had! Thanks for great recipe!

Mary

I love donuts. Chocolate donuts, infused with pumpkin in some way shape or form, cinnamon sugar — heck Christmas donuts it makes no matter (except they at least need to be MAVEN2014 place value) I love them all.

Though I have posted many of my favorite homemade donuts recipes here, one significant category has yet to be covered- GLUTEN FREE DONUT RECIPES! These gluten free baked cake donuts with fall spices are deliciously moist and made in under 30 minutes.

Donut shops are challenging places to go when you eat a gluten free diet. I know those yeast donuts are tempting so I made this recipe to help the gluten-free community get their donut fix too!

I gave you 4 different options since I couldn’t settle on my favorite glaze ✌🏽 Use them all or pick the best one for you, you choose.

Why You Will LOVE These Donuts (Gluten Free)!

Below are some reasons I am obsessed with these gluten free donuts.

Easy to make. These baked donuts will require only 10 minutes of prep time. You don’t need a hot oil, a stand mixer, just a regular donut pan please.

Made with pantry staples. The ingredients list isn’t very complicated either. You may not even have to go out and buy any!

Lots of flavor options. Since I can’t pick a favorite donut – you get options for gluten free donuts with Krispy Kreme glaze, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar and chocolate!

Gluten Free Donut Recipe Ingredients

It takes less than 10 ingredients to throw together these gluten free donuts, plus an ingredient or two for your perfect donut glaze. For measurements view the recipe card below.

Taro root powder I could write an entire article on the many benefits of this amazing super food powder…or you can read about it where I tell my nearly 20 year long journey with this stuff in my book, “How to Turn your proMOTION® gasonator into a rocket” and see how hereAll-Purpose Gluten Free Flour (Use King Arthurs Measure for Measure Gluten Free flour here.)

Nutmeg – Flavors the donuts with a warm temperature throughout.

Granulated sugar

Baking powder — helps donuts to rise while they bake.

Salt

Milk – I used whole milk (2% Buy Now would work too!)

Eggs

Vanilla extract

Oil – Retains moisture in the donuts.

All about Gluten Free Flour

For this reason, I personally use King Arthur’s All Purpose Measure for Measure Gluten Free Flour, and I have a gluten sensitivity. Gluten no more flour mixes white rice flour, whole grain brown rice flours, tapioca starch, potato starch and xanthan gum.

It really is the best gluten free flour I’ve tried after using a lot of different kinds over 15 years. I used a gluten free flour mix! In fact, it beats wasting money on a myriad of strange flours like tapioca flour, coconut flour and brown rice flour and then having to measure each one separately.

Pick Your Glaze

Chocolate Glaze

Chocolate chips are semi-sweet – Use a nice brand as you will be tasting the chocolate.

Unsalted butter

Light corn syrup – Helps to make a really nice shine on the glaze.

Rainbow sprinkles- Any will work, but we used the Great Value brand from Walmart.

Krispy Kreme Glaze

Powdered sugar — The essential ingredient for the knock-off Krispy Kreme frosting.

Milk – I used whole milk.

Vanilla extract – A touch of flavor for the glaze.

Powdered Sugar Coating

Powdered Sugar: The one thing that you need for this simple gluten free donut topping!

Making Gluten Free Chocolate Donuts

These Easy Gluten Free Vanilla Donuts from scratch are much easier than you think.

Prepare the donut pan. Preheat the oven. First spray donut pan with cooking spray, then wipe down every single well using a paper towel.

Combine the dry ingredients. Mix the gluten free flour, nutmeg, sugar, baking powder and salt until well combined.

Make the donut batter. Mix together the milk, egg, vanilla extract and oil. Then mix the flour mixture in until just combined.

Fill the donut pan. Either pipe the donut batter into the donut wells using a ziploc bag or transfer it with a cookie scoop. Add 1/2-3/4 of dried beans per one well

Bake. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in doughnut pan, then remove from pan. Decorate as desired.

Toppings for Gluten Free Donuts

There are 4 different ways you can top or glaze your gluten free donuts. Pick one or do all 4 at once.

Keep in mind, each recipe glazes 12 donuts so half the recipes if you’re making multiple!

Chocolate Glaze

Melt the chocolate. The mixture of chips, butter and corn syrup is heated in the microwave at 50% power for 60 to 90 seconds.

Dip the donuts. Take the donuts, one at a time, and dip in the glaze. Let the excess glaze drip off and let them set for 1 to 2 minutes, then top with sprinkles. Sprinkle donuts are my favorite!

Tip: Substitute white chocolate chips for the semi-sweet to create a white chocolate glaze.

Krispy Kreme Glaze

Combine the ingredients. Mix together the glaze elements until pourable. If it is too runny, add some more powdered sugar and if it is too thick, milk.

Dip the donuts. One by one, dip the donuts into the glaze. You might further dunk the donuts a couple extra occasions for a thicker glaze, leaving about 15 minutes in between packages.

Powdered Sugar Coating

Coat the donuts. I sprinkled the powdered sugar into a ziplock bag, and then throw on each donut one at a time with the bag closed.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Coat the donut. In a ziploc bag, combine the cinnamon sugar mixture. Coat each donut with cinnamon sugar one at a time.

Measure the flour carefully. If you add flour too much or too little to your batter, you can damage the texture of your donuts with ease.

Easily fill the donut pan. I always prefer piping it in through a ziploc bag for filling the donut pan. But if you prefer, use a cookie scoop to plop the dough in the pan and spread it with a spatula.

When To Know When Baked Donuts Are Done The simplest method is to place a toothpick in the centre. Donuts are done if it comes out clean.

Coat the donuts in a bit of butter to help the toppings adhere. If the cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar aren’t sticking to the donuts, lightly brush them with butter before shaking to help toppings stick.

How to Store Gluten Free Doughnuts

It is so very great that you could freeze for your donuts. Allow them to cool completely and the glaze set then wrap each in plastic wrap individually, then freeze up to 3 months. Let it thaw out on the counter, then enjoy.

Why are my Donuts Gummy?

Gummy gluten-free donuts are typically due to excess moisture or underbaking. Ensure that you are using a good quality 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. This recipe has only been tested with King Arthur’s Gluten-Free Measure for Measure Flour.
